The First Werewolf Is Back is a medium 72 by 72 map with an underground level, rated Expert. According to the author's description, the player controls Gerine, a new werewolf-class hero whose special skill is leading hydras, and more werewolf heroes are planned. Five players are set up, but only one can be human. Red, Blue, Tan and Orange are computer-controlled, and no teams are used. The factions are Tower, Rampart, Castle, Fortress and Inferno. Victory comes from accumulating 100 creatures, and the game is lost if a specific hero is lost. The terrain is mostly rock, with dirt, grass and a little water. The map holds eleven towns, 36 mines and 23 creature banks, plus wandering zombies, ice elementals and artifacts such as the Crown of Dragontooth.
