Silmarillion is an extra large, underground-enabled map for eight players, four of whom can be human, split into two teams. The author's description, in German, frames it as a fight against Morgoth and his allies, drawing on Tolkien's works, with players choosing from Valars, Elves, Men and Dwarves. Factions in play include Tower, Castle, two Rampart players, Stronghold, Inferno, Dungeon and Fortress. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. The 144 by 144 terrain is mostly rock and grass, with about a fifth water. The map holds 31 towns, 18 starting heroes, 108 mines and 18 creature banks, plus Equestrian's Gloves and Sandals of the Saint placed on the map. Wandering stacks of Wood Elves and Battle Dwarves are common.
