Side by Side* — RoE

Side by Side is a two-player medium map of 72 by 72 tiles with an underground level, rated Impossible, for two human players with no computer-only colors and no teams. Both players start with random factions. The map is mostly rock, with grass, dirt, and water making up the rest, and the author describes a setting where the opposing players sit close together yet must leave their own island to make any progress. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. The map holds six towns, eight creature banks, six seer huts, 21 mines, and ten monoliths and portals. Wandering Behemoths, Chaos Hydras, and Titans roam the terrain, and the artifacts include the four tomes of magic, Boots of Levitation, and the Endless Sack of Gold.
