Upper Kingdom is a small underground map of 36 by 36 tiles for two players, with only one human player allowed, so the second seat is controlled by the computer. The Blue side is computer-only and plays Tower and Cove, while Teal plays Cove. There are no teams, and the Impossible difficulty is set. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses when all of their towns and heroes are gone. The terrain is mostly snow, rock, subterranean ground, and swamp, with very little water. The author's description tells of a hidden cave where reclusive nixes offer shelter to a hero fleeing pursuers, and who hint at a route to the surface. Highlights include seven mines, nine creature banks, two monoliths or portals, and artifacts such as the Crown of the Supreme Magi and the Orb of the Firmament.
