Whirlpool is a large underground map for six players, all of whom can be human, with no teams and no computer-only colors. The author suggests that fortune here turns unpredictably, and that adventurers chasing wealth may never see home again. Each player may choose any of nine factions, from Castle to Cove. Rock covers about half the terrain, with water, grass, and sand making up the rest. The map holds twelve towns, eighteen heroes, 150 random artifacts, 71 mines, and 39 monoliths and portals, along with dragon dwellings and roaming Water and Ice Elementals. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. The difficulty is set to Impossible.
