Life or Death? is a large 108 by 108 map with an underground level, rated Expert, for eight players. Up to two can be human, and six colors are computer-only. There are no fixed teams. Red and Blue play Castle, while the computer sides field Necropolis, Tower, Stronghold and Fortress, Dungeon, Inferno, and Rampart. Water covers about 36 percent of the surface and rock most of the rest. The author describes a world at war in which the player must survive the chaos and finally face the Devil. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. The map holds 29 towns, 85 mines, and 186 random monster stacks, along with wandering Diamond Golems and Red Dragons. Placed artifacts include the Shield of the Dwarven Lords, the Hellstorm Helmet, and an Endless Sack of Gold.
