Legends of the Wasteland is an Extra Large underground map of 144 by 144 tiles for eight players, all of whom can be human, with no teams and every player starting as Stronghold. Set in barren lands, it follows rival barbarian tribes whose chieftains and shamans fight one another in a bitter internal struggle. Most of the surface is rough ground and rock, with a small share of subterranean terrain and almost no water. The difficulty is rated Hard. Victory requires defeating all enemies, while a player loses once every town and hero has been taken. The map holds 48 towns and 17 heroes, with mines, creature banks and a Grail, plus placed artifacts including the Rib Cage and the Sword of Judgement. Wandering Cyclops, Behemoths and Thunderbirds roam the land, and one timed event is included.
