Legends of the Wasteland is an extra large underground map of 144 by 144 tiles, built for eight players who each start as a Stronghold, with no teams and no computer-only colors. Its setting is a harsh expanse of rough ground and rock, with a sliver of water, and the author describes a conflict among barbarian chieftains and shamans who fight one another. Victory requires defeating all enemies, while a player loses once every town and hero is gone. Across the map sit 48 towns, 17 heroes, and wandering stacks of Cyclops, Behemoths, Thunderbirds, Naga, and other creatures. Notable finds include the Sword of Judgement, a Rib Cage, the Grail, and 273 random artifacts, along with 89 mines and 141 creature banks.
