Fear is an extra large underground map for Shadow of Death, spanning 144 by 144 tiles and set at normal difficulty. It supports eight players on four teams, and all eight seats can be held by humans. The author describes dread before battle, which is overcome as the party sets out on a long journey. Factions include Inferno, Tower, Necropolis, Castle, Fortress and Conflux, with Rampart appearing twice. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player is eliminated after losing every town and hero. Rock, subterranean and snow terrain dominate, and there is no water. Sixteen towns, 72 mines, 187 creature banks, 37 seer huts and 28 monoliths and portals are spread across the map, along with placed artifacts such as the Amulet of the Undertaker.
