X and an O — RoE

X and an O is an extra-large underground map of 144 by 144 tiles, built for Restoration of Erathia and rated hard. Four players each control a different faction (Tower, Dungeon, Rampart and Castle), and all four slots are human-playable, with no teams and no computer-only colors. Victory requires defeating every enemy, and a player loses once all towns and heroes are gone. Rock covers close to half the surface, with water around a fifth, followed by rough ground and grass. The map holds 13 towns and 61 mines, along with eight seer huts, two monoliths or portals, and the Grail. Wandering monsters include many Horned Demons, Cerberus stacks and Pit Lords, and the placed artifacts range from Orbs to Pendants and Shields. The author describes four kingdoms competing for the world, rumors of demon-ruled cities, and a choice between treasure hunting and rushing opponents.
