Wayfarer(E) is an extra-large underground map for Shadow of Death, set on a 144 by 144 grid with an underground level and an Impossible difficulty setting. Eight players take part, with only one human seat and seven computer-controlled colors, and there are no teams. The factions are Stronghold, Fortress, Tower, Inferno, Castle, Rampart, Dungeon and Necropolis, one per color. Victory requires capturing a specific town, while a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. Terrain is mostly grass, with water covering about 22 percent of the map, plus lava and rock. Notable features include 36 towns, 105 mines, 16 monoliths and portals, and the Grail. Wandering Phoenix stacks are especially common, and many artifacts are scattered across the map.
