It supports four players, but only one can be human, and Red, Green and Orange are computer controlled. Three teams are set up, and the factions are Castle for Blue, Rampart for Green, Inferno and Stronghold for Red, and Stronghold for Orange. The author's story has Men facing Sauron without the Elves after Saruman turns against Gandalf and raises an army of Uruk-hai. Victory requires transporting one specific artifact, and losing a specific hero means defeat. The land is mostly rock and grass, with about 8 percent water. Highlights include 19 towns, 57 mines, 19 creature banks, and wandering stacks such as Hell Hounds and Ogres.
