Life and Death is an Expert-difficulty adventure map for Heroes of Might and Magic III: In the Wake of Gods. It is Extra Large at 144 by 144 tiles and set on an underground level. Five players take part, with up to two human players, while the Blue, Tan and Green colors are computer-controlled. There are no teams. Red plays Necropolis, Blue and Orange play Inferno, Tan plays Dungeon, and Green plays Fortress. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. Water covers half the map, with lava at about 41 percent and snow at 9 percent. The map holds 18 towns and 43 mines, and 116 skeleton stacks roam its terrain. Two artifacts are placed on the map: the Blackshard of the Dead Knight and the Shield of the Yawning Dead.
