Thousand Gates — SoD
Overview
Written from the facts in this map's file
Thousand Gates is a single-player, one-human map set on a 144 by 144 grassland surface with no water and no underground level. It is rated hard and gives the player a Fortress hero in the Green colour, with no teams and no computer opponents. Victory requires acquiring one specific artifact, and the hero loses if every town and hero is gone. The map holds three towns, along with a wide scatter of wandering monsters such as Fire Elementals, Archangels, and Sharpshooters. Dwellings offer creatures ranging from Angels and Golems to Firebirds, and there are 18 mines, 13 creature banks, and 52 monoliths and portals. Timed events also occur during play. The author's introduction is a story-driven framing rather than a description of gameplay.
