The King and Queen is a large, two-level map of 108 by 108 tiles, rated hard, with an underground level included. Five players share the field, four of them human-controllable at most, and the fifth color, Tan, is computer-only and plays as a Dungeon. The other factions are Tower, Rampart, Fortress, and Stronghold, with no fixed teams. The story centers on a usurper who has imprisoned the princess of a stolen throne, and the goal is to capture a particular town to win, while losing every town and hero ends a player's game. Subterranean ground covers about a third of the map, with grass, water, and sand making up much of the rest. Players will find two starting heroes, twelve towns, and a wide spread of guarded resources, including seventy mines, fourteen monoliths and portals, and a number of placed artifacts.
