The Greatest Monarchs is an Impossible-difficulty map for Restoration of Erathia, set on an extra large 144 by 144 board with an underground level. Eight players share the world: one seat is human and seven are computer-controlled, arranged in two teams. Each player leads a different town type, including Necropolis, Tower, Stronghold, Castle, Fortress, Dungeon, Rampart and Inferno. The author presents it as a challenge in which an unknown force threatens the rulers of the largest empires, so every resource must be committed to win. Terrain is mostly dirt, lava, water and snow. The map holds 42 towns, 20 heroes, 140 mines and 32 creature banks, plus seven named artifacts such as the Titan's Cuirass, and the Grail is placed on the map. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing every town and hero.
