The Forgotten Rivers is an Extra Large 144 by 144 map for Shadow of Death, with an underground level and Impossible difficulty. Eight humans can play, with no teams, and each player fields three of the eight towns. The author describes a chaotic land where weak earldoms face invasion and captured explorers must be freed from the wilds on the way to the riverheads. Terrain is mostly rock, water, lava and subterranean ground. Notable features include the Grail, 104 mines, 60 monoliths and portals, and wandering Storm Elementals and Efreet Sultans. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses upon losing every town and hero.
