The Demons Below is an extra large underground map, 144 by 144 tiles, for eight players in two teams, rated hard. The author's note frames it as a renewed uprising by devils who have been driven back into the pits that birthed them, setting up a final clash between good and evil. Each of the eight colors fields a different town type, from Castle to Stronghold, and the goal is to defeat every enemy, while a player loses by running out of both towns and heroes. Water covers about 28 percent of the surface, with rock and grass making up much of the rest. The map holds 16 towns and heroes, a Grail, 71 mines, and 91 random artifacts, along with dwellings offering creatures such as Unicorns, Iron Golems, and Bone Dragons among wandering stacks.
