The Demons Below is an extra large underground map, 144 by 144 tiles, built for eight players in two teams, with each side fielding a different faction and the map set on Hard difficulty. Its author describes a story in which devils, pushed back into the pits that spawned them, plot a return and force a final clash between good and evil. Water covers about 28 percent of the terrain, with rock, grass, and dirt making up most of the rest. Sixteen towns and sixteen heroes are placed across the map, and the wandering monsters include skeletons, hobgoblins, dwarves, and bone dragons. Players win by defeating all enemies and lose if they lose every town and hero. The map also holds 71 mines, the Grail, and a number of named artifacts, including Angel Wings and Boots of Speed.
