The Cursed Land is an extra large, 144 by 144 map with an underground level, set in the Restoration of Erathia version of the game. It is rated for expert play and supports eight players, all of them human-capable, with no teams and no computer-only colors. Each player starts with a different town type, covering Castle, Tower, Fortress, Rampart, Dungeon, Necropolis, Stronghold and Inferno. Victory comes from building a Grail structure, and a player is eliminated once they lose all towns and heroes. Rock covers roughly 42 percent of the terrain and water about 30 percent, with grass and subterranean ground making up the rest. Scattered across the land are ten towns, thirteen placed heroes, and many wandering monsters, including Earth Elementals, Gremlins and Diamond Golems. Notable placed artifacts include the Dragon Scale Shield, the Hellstorm Helmet and the Endless Purse of Gold.
