Statute Quandary — SoD

Statute Quandary is a hard, medium-sized underground map for Heroes of Might and Magic III: Shadow of Death, covering a 72 by 72 tile area. The author describes a nephew who has broken his uncle's statuette and must deliver the pieces to the uncle's castle, a setup that gives the map its premise. Seven players take part, but only one can be human, and the other six are computer-controlled. There are no teams. The factions in play include Castle, Rampart, Fortress, Inferno, Necropolis, Stronghold and Tower. Victory requires transporting a specific artifact to a designated location, and the hero's loss means defeat. Rock covers nearly half the terrain, with grass, swamp and water filling much of the rest. Highlights include a Grail, 41 mines, 13 towns, and a set of Legion artifacts scattered across the map.
