Shellost is an extra large underground map of 144 by 144 tiles, rated hard, for one human player against seven computer-controlled colors. Those eight players are split into six teams, and the factions include Rampart, Castle, Inferno, Stronghold, Tower, Dungeon and Fortress. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses once all their towns and heroes are gone. Rock covers about 44 percent of the surface, with water at roughly 23 percent, dirt around 14 percent and lava about 6 percent. The map holds 45 towns, 135 mines, 27 creature banks and 27 monoliths or portals, along with a Grail, several placed artifacts and a number of wandering monster stacks, including Cerberus, Magog and Pit Fiends.
