Shady Vale is a small underground map on a 36 by 36 grid, rated Expert, for one human player and one computer-controlled side. The author describes a once peaceful country overrun by otherworldly creatures, and the player must hunt down the threat before it is too late. The map has two colors, Red playing Inferno and Green playing Rampart, with no teams. Most of the ground is grass, with lava, rock, and swamp making up the rest and no water. Victory comes from defeating a specific hero, and a player loses by losing a specific hero. Three towns, four placed heroes, and a Grail sit among the mines, seer huts, creature banks, and monoliths. Wandering stacks include Behemoths, Ancient Behemoths, and Hydras, and the Blackshard of the Dead Knight is placed on the map.
