The story centers on the mad sorcerer Serevok, who once launched a devastating war to conquer the world, was only narrowly defeated, and is now back and stronger. Five players compete, with four seats open to humans and the Tan player controlled by the computer only. There are no teams. Red plays Rampart, Blue Castle, Tan Tower, Green Stronghold, and Purple Dungeon. Victory requires defeating one specific hero, and losing all towns and heroes means defeat. Difficulty is Expert and heroes cap at level 40. Water covers about 36 percent of the terrain. Highlights include the Grail, placed artifacts, and wandering Phoenix and Rust Dragon stacks.
