This Restoration of Erathia map, titled "R2. The First Hardships," is the second map of a campaign whose scenarios are linked by story. The author describes a powerful Dark Lord, a servant of Morgoth, standing in the player's way, and recommends the highest difficulty for this and later maps. The large 108 by 108 map includes an underground level and supports six players, with only one human player allowed. Red plays Rampart, while the other five colors are computer-controlled Necropolis, split into two teams. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. Rock covers about half the terrain, with water and rough ground making up most of the rest. Notable features include ten towns, 73 mines, three creature banks, two monoliths and portals, and wandering stacks such as a Red Dragon and an Ancient Behemoth.
