Dead Land is a large map of 108 by 108 tiles with an underground level, built mostly from rock, grass and subterranean ground, with no water. It is rated Expert. Five players take part, and up to four can be human. Orange is computer-only and plays the Dungeon faction, while the other four start with random towns. The map has no formal teams, but the author suggests pairing Red with Green or Blue with Tan against Orange, and warns that Orange is the toughest opponent. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing every town and hero. The map contains 16 towns, 8 heroes, 68 mines, 14 creature banks, 5 monoliths or portals and 10 timed events. Wandering Dread Knights, Gold Golems and Minotaur Kings roam the land, and the Grail is placed on the map.
