Monster Island Ultra — SoD
Overview
Written from the facts in this map's file
Monster Island Ultra is an Extra Large 144x144 map for Shadow of Death with an underground level, rated Impossible. Eight players start on it, with two possible human players and six computer-only colors, grouped into seven teams. The factions are Castle, Tower, Inferno, Stronghold, Rampart, Fortress, Necropolis and Dungeon, one per player. Water covers about a quarter of the land, with grass, swamp and rough ground making up most of the rest. The map holds 34 towns and 40 placed heroes, plus many wandering monster stacks, dragons among them, and dwellings, mines, seer huts, creature banks, and a Grail. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing every town and hero. The author's note is brief and sets a grim tone.
