Monster Island Ultra is an Extra Large 144 by 144 map with an underground level, built for Shadow of Death and set on the Impossible difficulty. Eight players take part, with up to two human players and the other six colors run by the computer, split across seven teams. The factions in play are Castle, Tower, Inferno, Stronghold, Rampart, Fortress, Necropolis and Dungeon. Grass covers about 29 percent of the land and water about a quarter. The map holds 34 towns, 40 heroes and the Grail, along with roaming dragons and phoenixes and placed artifacts such as Armageddon's Blade. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing every town and hero. The author's note contrasts paradise with torment and warns players to expect a hard game.
