Monster Island 1.01 is an Armageddon's Blade map on an extra large 144 by 144 underground level, rated Impossible. Eight players compete without teams, each playing one of the eight main factions: Castle, Tower, Inferno, Stronghold, Rampart, Fortress, Necropolis, or Dungeon, and all eight slots can be human. Grass covers the largest share of the land, water about a quarter, and swamp and rough ground roughly a tenth each. The map holds 34 towns, 40 heroes, and the Grail, with Armageddon's Blade among the placed artifacts. Dragons and elementals roam widely. Victory requires defeating all enemies, while a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. The author's brief note reflects on the brutality of war rather than its glory.
