MerlinsChallenge(sod) — SoD

Merlin's Challenge is a two-player medium map for Shadow of Death, set on a 72 by 72 tile battlefield with an underground level. The author's description frames it as a search for a new apprentice, with players competing to defeat the other mages for the position. Victory requires eliminating every enemy, and a player is eliminated after losing all towns and heroes. Both sides start with random factions, and the map has no teams. Rock covers about half the ground, with grass, swamp and a small share of water. Five towns, 84 random monster stacks, 20 mines, 16 seer huts and 14 creature banks are spread across it. Among the placed artifacts are Angel Wings, Boots of Levitation, an Endless Sack of Gold and several spell tomes. It is rated Normal difficulty.
