This large map, called Battle for Middle-earth: Rivendell, has an underground level and is based on the Lord of the Rings strategy game it draws from. The author describes it as the first mission of that game's campaign. The 108 by 108 map is mostly rock, grass and dirt, with a small share of water. Two players are set up, but only one can be human. The computer controls the Red side, which plays Stronghold against the Blue side, which plays Castle and Rampart. There are no teams. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and the player loses if a specific hero is killed. Heroes are capped at level 10 on normal difficulty. The map includes six towns, 53 mines, wandering monsters such as Gold Dragons and Sharpshooters, and artifacts such as Dragon Scale Armor and Boots of Speed.
