Death of the Necromancer is a medium underground map measuring 72 by 72 for Shadow of Death, played on normal difficulty. Three players take part, but only one seat can be human, and the Blue and Tan players are computer-controlled. There are no teams. Red plays Tower, Blue plays Necropolis, and Tan plays Stronghold. The story follows a mage who must stop a necromancer whose power is growing in a peaceful age. Rock covers about 44 percent of the map, with water at 15 percent, dirt at 14 percent, and snow at 9 percent. Victory comes from transporting a specific artifact, and defeat follows the loss of a particular hero. Notable features include Armageddon's Blade, the Ring of the Wayfarer, five mines, and a wandering Obsidian Gargoyle.
