The Legend of the Great Islands is an Extra Large (144x144) Shadow of Death map with an underground level, built for five players, with one human slot and four computer-only colors. The author's note, roughly translated, refers to rumors from ancient times about mysterious islands endowed with magical power. Terrain is mostly rock, with grass, water covering about 17 percent of the surface, and some lava. Red plays as Castle, Blue and Orange as Rampart, Purple as Inferno, and Pink as Tower, with no teams. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. Each side starts with a town, and the map holds wandering stacks of Grand Elves, Dendroid Guards, Azure Dragons, Rust Dragons, and others, along with dwellings, five seer huts, eight creature banks, and many mines. A large set of artifacts is scattered across the map.
