Forward, Vikings! is an extra large surface map of 144 by 144 tiles for Shadow of Death. Its setting is Europe, and its theme is Viking raids in the Dark Ages, when European kings were seizing their neighbors' lands. Six players take part, with up to five human players, and the Purple player is computer-controlled only. There are no teams. Red plays Stronghold, Blue Necropolis, Tan and Orange Castle, Green Rampart, and Purple Inferno. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. About half the map is water, with grass, dirt, and snow forming the land. Scattered across it are 35 towns, 82 random monster stacks, 57 mines, and six placed artifacts, including the Sphere of Permanence.
