The Necromancer's Ascent is a small 36 by 36 map with an underground level, designed for two players on Normal difficulty. Only one seat is human, and the Blue side is computer-controlled. There are no teams. Red plays Necropolis and Blue plays Tower. Lord Sot, a newly made necromancer, must prove he deserves the title. Water covers about a fifth of the map, with subterranean, rock, and dirt terrain making up most of the rest. Wandering Behemoths, Ancient Behemoths, and a Bone Dragon roam the land, and artifacts such as the Elixir of Life and the Sword of Hellfire are placed along the way. Victory requires transporting one specific artifact, while a player loses if a specific hero is killed.
