War and Peace is an extra large surface map for eight players in two teams, built for Shadow of Death and set on Normal difficulty. Spanning 144 by 144 tiles with no underground level, it casts the world as rival alliances named after continents and regions, and asks which side will win the war and claim the world. All eight players can be human, and the starting factions are Fortress, Stronghold, Castle, Dungeon, Necropolis (used twice), Tower, and Rampart. Water covers most of the land, so sea routes matter. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player is eliminated after losing every town and hero. The map holds 25 towns, 78 mines, 12 creature banks, and wandering dragons, along with artifacts such as Armageddon's Blade and the Angelic Alliance.
