The map is set against a dark ruler's plan to bring ruin on the world, with allied realms gathering to resist a conflict that has lasted for ages. It is a large 108 by 108 map with an underground level, rated hard, for up to seven players, of whom up to four can be human. Seven factions are in play, from Castle to Dungeon, and the players form four teams. Victory requires capturing a specific town, and a player is eliminated after losing all towns and heroes. Rock covers about 44 percent of the land, with grass, water, and snow making up the rest. Sixteen towns, eleven pre-placed heroes, and 130 random monster stacks fill the map, along with 53 mines and several named artifacts such as the Red Dragon Flame Tongue and the Speculum.
