Unexpected Cataclysm is an Extra Large surface map of 144 by 144 tiles for Armageddon's Blade, played on Normal difficulty. According to the author, volcanic eruptions have devastated much of Europe, creating chaos that makes this a good moment to seize territory, though several other rulers have the same idea. Eight players can take part, all of them able to be human, divided into four teams. The Blue player starts as Rampart, and the other seven factions are random. Water covers about 45 percent of the land, with grass, snow and dirt making up most of the rest. The map holds 48 towns, 19 heroes, 151 wandering monster stacks, 123 mines, 10 seer huts and 6 monoliths and portals. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses upon losing all towns and heroes.
