Many Islands V is an extra large 144 by 144 map for eight players, set on a surface and underground level and played on Impossible difficulty with no teams. Each player takes a different faction, from Inferno and Castle to Fortress, and all eight colors can be human. Victory requires defeating every enemy, while a player loses after losing all towns and heroes. Water covers about 28 percent of the map, with rock and subterranean terrain also prominent. Players will find 41 towns, 105 mines, and 261 monoliths and portals, which make random teleportation a central feature. Wandering monsters include Green Dragons and Water Elementals, and artifacts such as the Endless Sack of Gold and the Golden Bow are placed around the islands.
