Many Islands V is an extra large 144 by 144 map for eight players, with each player on their own color and faction: Inferno, Castle, Necropolis, Rampart, Stronghold, Dungeon, Tower and Fortress. It has an underground level, and all eight seats can be taken by humans, though no computer-only colors are used and no teams are set. The difficulty is Impossible. Water covers about 28 percent of the surface, with rock, subterranean ground and grass making up most of the rest. Victory requires defeating every enemy, while a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. The author's description promises islands, ambushes and random teleportation, and the map holds 41 towns, 9 starting heroes, and many wandering stacks. Notable finds include a number of placed artifacts such as the Golden Bow and Boots of Speed, plus 261 monoliths and portals.
