Lords of Ruin is a Hard, extra large underground map for five players, with two human participants at most. A plague has crippled the Necromancer and Demoniac realm, which must retake its rebellious vassal kingdoms. Red, Blue and Orange are computer-only and form three teams, with factions across the field ranging from Castle and Tower to Inferno, Necropolis, Stronghold, Fortress and Rampart. Rock covers nearly half the terrain, with grass, water and snow making up much of the rest. Victory requires defeating every enemy, while losing all towns and heroes ends a game. The map holds 47 towns, 14 heroes and the Grail, plus artifacts such as Boots of Speed and the Tome of Earth Magic. Wandering Titans, Archangels and Black Dragons roam its lands.
