Kingdoms is a large underground map for six players, each human-controllable, with no teams and no computer-only colors. Each player leads one of the six castle types: Rampart, Stronghold, Castle, Tower, Necropolis, and Inferno. The author's description frames it as a choice of which army to command and a call to conquer the entire land. Victory comes from defeating every enemy, and a player is eliminated once all their towns and heroes are lost. The terrain is mostly rock and grass, with some dirt and sand and a small share of water. The map holds twelve towns, seven heroes, and a scatter of wandering monsters, including a Chaos Hydra and a Dread Knight. Among the placed artifacts are the Sword of Hellfire and the Shield of the Yawning Dead. The Grail is also present, and the map includes 51 mines and seven creature banks.
