Two players start random, while the others are fixed to Tower, Fortress, Necropolis and Inferno. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses when all towns and heroes are gone. Lava covers about half the map, with water around a quarter and smaller shares of dirt and grass. The author's description contrasts two allied towns in the northern mountains with a southern land of swamps and undead, where the strongest side is meant to face a hidden evil below ground.
