Heiliger Boden is a hard, medium-sized underground map of 72 by 72 tiles. Set in Impietas, a land where many former heroes rest, it begins as an old peace breaks down and evil forces grow stronger. Four players take part: one human seat, Blue with the Castle town, and three computer players, Red (Inferno), Green (Fortress), and Teal (Necropolis), with no teams. Rock covers about a third of the land, with subterranean, grass, and water terrain making up much of the rest. The map has nine towns, eight heroes, fifteen placed artifacts, and many wandering monsters, including Lizardmen, Cerberus, and Gnolls. Victory and defeat both depend on specific heroes.
