Eternal Conflict is a large two-level map measuring 108 by 108 tiles, built for Horn of the Abyss 1.6.0 and later and rated Hard. Four players each control one faction, Fortress, Stronghold, Inferno, or Tower, and every player can be human, with no teams and no computer-only colors. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. Rock covers about half the terrain, with water making up roughly a quarter, alongside patches of snow and dirt. The author frames the map as a long struggle between fire and water, with the four factions acting as pawns. Eight towns, 31 mines, eight seer huts, and 25 creature banks are scattered across the land, and the artifacts placed include the Helm of Chaos and the Red Dragon Flame Tongue.
