Elementally is a medium underground map of 72 by 72 tiles, played on eight starting positions with up to five human players, and the remaining colors are computer-controlled. There are no fixed teams. The factions in play are Rampart and Tower for Red, Castle for Blue, Stronghold for Tan, Dungeon for Green, Fortress for Orange, Necropolis and Conflux for Purple, Inferno for Teal, and Tower for Pink. Victory requires defeating all enemies, while a player loses once all towns and heroes are gone. Terrain is split fairly evenly among rock, water, subterranean ground and grass, with water making up about a fifth of the surface. The map is scattered with wandering elementals, Black Dragons and Angels, a number of artifacts including Armageddon's Blade, a Grail, and monoliths and portals across the land.
