Heritage of the Ancients is a Normal difficulty map for Armageddon's Blade, played on an extra large 144 by 144 grid that includes an underground level. Eight players share the map, but only one can be human, and the other seven are computer-controlled. No teams are used. The player begins at a disadvantage, facing opponents who are far stronger. The factions in play are Tower, Fortress, Rampart, Necropolis, Dungeon, and Castle and Stronghold, each of which appears for two players. Rock covers about 38 percent of the terrain, with water, snow and grass making up much of the rest. The map holds 30 towns, 112 mines, 12 monoliths and portals, and the Grail, along with placed artifacts such as the Crown of the Supreme Magi. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and the game is lost if a specific hero falls.
