Dark City is a large underground map measuring 108 by 108, played on Normal difficulty with eight players, seven of them computer-controlled, so only one human can take part. There are no teams. Each side fields a different town: Stronghold, Necropolis, Inferno, Dungeon, Tower, Rampart, Castle and Fortress. Victory requires defeating all enemies, while a player loses once every town and hero is gone. Water covers about 36 percent of the map, with rock and subterranean ground making up most of the rest. The map holds 16 towns, 10 placed heroes, 105 mines and 15 monoliths or portals. Notable finds include fifteen placed artifacts such as the Cape of Velocity and Dragon Scale Armor, along with wandering stacks of Efreets, Hydras and Grand Elves, and dwellings guarded by creatures like Angels and Green Dragons.
