The player begins alone and must win over the peoples of the realm and destroy the source of the corruption. It supports eight players, seven of them human, with one computer-only color, Blue, and no teams. Difficulty is set to Impossible. Factions include Rampart, two Inferno, two Fortress, Necropolis, and two Castle players. Victory requires defeating all enemies, while losing all towns and heroes ends the game. Terrain is mostly rock with grass, swamp, and rough areas, and there is no water. Notable features include 22 towns, 59 creature banks, 52 mines, and two monoliths or portals.
