Archipelago Alder is an Extra Large, 144 by 144 map for Shadow of Death, with an underground level and Impossible difficulty. The story has Marquis Kirignal trying to free his wife, Queen Feeria, whom sorcerers have hidden on an island in the Wild Lands, and a fief in those lands is offered as the reward. Eight players share the map, but only one can be human, and the other seven colors are computer-controlled. The players form four teams and use Inferno, Tower, Fortress, Rampart, Conflux, Dungeon, Stronghold, and Necropolis. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses if a specific hero falls. Rock covers about 42 percent of the terrain and water about 20 percent. The map includes 48 towns, 80 mines, the Grail, 46 creature banks, and 11 monoliths and portals.
